Medication-Assisted Treatment Booklets for Patients and Families Medication-assisted treatment is an effective and increasingly popular means of helping those with opioid addiction recover their lives. SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is pleased to announce the availability of three consumer booklets that:

Provide basic information about medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction.2.
Describe medication options including naltrexone, buprenorphine, and methadone.3.
Explain how medication options fit into the overall recovery process.More Information
Provides substance abuse treatment professionals with publications, online education, and other resources that contain information on best treatment practices.
One booklet is directed at families and friends of patients entering medication-assisted treatment. The other two booklets present facts about naltrexone and buprenorphine and are directed at patients entering medication-assisted treatment.
